Christmas String Art Workshop

With a hammer and nails and a lump of wood, you can create your very own unique, Christmas themed, artwork, using wool, pom poms and that all important GLITTER! Worthy of giving as a gift for a friend
or family, or keep it for yourself.
Ages 6+ - Adults welcome to stay for younger artists.
Make a Mask for Rotherfield Carnival

can come and make a carnival mask before the procession starts.

Oil Landscapes Workshop
Sunday 29th September 2019
10 – 1pm
Canvas and medium included in price.
Learn techniques for painting a beautiful landscape in oils. Subject to conditions, this may be held outside on the millennium green in Rotherfield (en plain air). If wet, we will do this in the shop.
Egg Tempera and Watercolour Workshop
Sunday 20th October 2019. Materials provided.
Learn how to mix the oldest painting medium,
your own egg tempera with watercolours, and paint a still life. Not suitable for anyone with an allergy to eggs!

The aim of the course is to teach you, not only to draw realistically, but to improve your observational skills, as well as giving you professional guidance on pencils, methods and even
how to sharpen pencils properly!

Term 1 theme – Food Art
Focusing on how food is depicted in art across the ages and cultures, working from still life in Cezanne style, making egg tempera paint and using
food to create art via printing.
Term 2 theme – Colour
How colour is used in art to depict mood, temperature and seasons. We will be looking at Jim Lambie and his amazing floor installations,
using coloured tape, Henri Matisse and doing some junk modelling based on installation artist Anthony Caro, as well as doing a seasonal creation in the lead up to Christmas.

The focus of this course is to increase observational ability and drawing skills using graphite
and charcoal. We will be doing a mix of still life and 2 dimensional work, including a full pet portrait!

Christmas card Lino printing

Get into the festive mood with this annual staple workshop. Produce unique Christmas cards for those closest to you.
To book any of these courses, please email your interest.
You will start learning by copying from a two dimensional reference. After 6 terms, you qualify to move on to drawing from casts using both charcoal
and graphite, eventually progressing to grisaille (black and white) oil painting. Term 13, you will begin to add
colour to the palette, painting from the casts to begin
with and then moving on to still life.
At the end of each six week term, we draw from
life, be it from a model, still life or self portrait.
Suitable for ages 15 +
All abilities welcome. You don’t have to have done any art before to do this course.
